AI Use Policy in USyd Academic Integrity from 2025

From Semester 1, 2025 (commencing 24 February 2025), updates to Section 16 
of the Academic Integrity Policy relating to 'allowable assistance' in assessments, 
including the use of generative AI, will come into effect. 

Simply speaking, the USyd default setting would be the following,  starting from 
Semester 1 2025: 

1) Exams and in-semester tests: The default setting is "Secured assessment no AI". 
Retain this unless you explicitly intend to permit AI use. 

2) All other assessments: The default setting is "Unsecured assessment full AI". 
Leave this setting unless you intend to disallow all AI use. 

3) Students are expected to use AI responsibly and must appropriately acknowledge 
its use. To help students understand whether AI is permitted, a new AI icon will appear 
in the unit outline for assessments where its use is allowed.
